Local 437.
Skilled trades.
Sheet Metal Workers' Local 437 is the sheet metal and roofing local for New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, based in Saint John and affiliated with SMART, the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers. We train, dispatch and represent the journeypersons and apprentices behind the region’s commercial, institutional and industrial builds.

Our local.
1963
Chartered in Saint John
The Sheet Metal Workers' International Association issues the charter for Local 437 on 26 July 1963, establishing the trade's own local in Saint John.
Saint John
Home of the local
Local 437 is based at the union hall on Sand Cove Road in Saint John, with a satellite office in Salisbury and a training centre on Mountain Road in Moncton, serving members across New Brunswick.

A two-province jurisdiction
The local holds collective agreements for Saint John, Prince Edward Island, and the Roofers division, representing the trade across New Brunswick and P.E.I.
Red Seal
A certified trade
Sheet Metal Worker is a Red Seal trade. Apprentices train through NB Apprenticeship and Occupational Certification, with technical training at the New Brunswick Community College (NBCC).
2011
SMART forms
The Sheet Metal Workers' International Association merges with the United Transportation Union to form SMART, the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers.
Local 437 carries on a craft with deep roots in tinsmithing, cornice and sheet metal work, and represents that trade today across New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island as a SMART affiliate.
